Memories of St Clementin, and the Segora Writing Competition
The St Clémentin bi-langue LitFest was great fun. We writers had a great time. I think our audiences enjoyed it too. I spoke as a writer, and conducted interviews with other writers including the late Helen Dunmore (expertly fluent in French) and Lemn Sissay. Other guest writers included Patricia Duncker, John Hudson and Katharine Gallagher. The Festival lost its funding and is no more, but its founders, Gordon and Jocelyn Simms, now run the Segora Writing Competition for aspiring poets, novelists, short story writers and playwrights. Closing date for entries this year is June 21st. I was a judge in the 'flash fiction' category a couple of years ago. There is a lot of talent out there! Congratulations to Gordon and Jocelyn for encouraging it.
